Located in the strait of the same name at the confluence of the Indian Ocean and the Banda Sea, The Komodo National Park features one of the world’s richest and most diverse marine environments—thanks to the overflowing currents in the area. Also renowned as the home of the famous Komodo Dragon, it is certainly one of the best scuba diving destination that you can find on the planet.
The beauty of its amazing soft corals that stick out to the surface is definitely one of the major marine attractions in Triton Bay. There are over 959 different kinds of coral fish and 471 known types of coral in this area.
Wallacea Dive Cruise is linked to this destination. That is where we started our operation, in the early 2000. Beautiful dive sites of the East coast in the areas of Ratatotok, Tanjung Flesko, Gorontalo (fabulous walls and whale sharks !). We can also mention Togian islands, Wakatobi & Tompotika area where Wallacea recently did set up a dive resort, Tompotika Dive Lodge, just because we found there spots that are among of the best dive sites of Indonesia!
Banda Neira and surrounding islands have an important history due to the key role they played in the spice trade during the 16th and 17th century. Expeditions, wars, and massacres took place on theses islands. Historical remains as fortifications and Dutch colonial houses are still visible, and thus, beside the beauty nature of these islands, are a great highlight if the cruise. A visit of the fort and museum is included in all our Banda trips.
